Welcome to all new and existing members of Irchester Bowling Club.
About us
Irchester Bowling Club
I.B.C. was founded in 1935, it is located close to the Carpenters Arms Public House set back at the rear of the car park next to Parsons Hall.
Our club consists of players of varying experience and ability, and the members have a long list of achievements in both local and County Competitions.
The club has a full programme of friendly matches against other local teams with whom we enjoy friendly rivalry.
Our members regularly enter the various competitions that are run by these associations. Annual internal club competitions take place over the Summer, culminating with a Finals Weekend in September.
The club is affiliated to Bowls England & Bowls Northamptonshire
Coaching available for all levels
Coaching is available throughout the season, please ask at the club for details.
Short Mat
Over the Winter season running from the beginning of October to the end of March the club hosts short mat in our Main Hall. We have 3 mats and run sessions on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 2pm – 4pm and on Friday evening, which is club night from 7pm (registration is 20mins before each session).
Short Mat is available for our full members, having paid a joining fee, with a small charge per game, which includes tea and biscuits.
Friendly matches are arranged with other local short mat clubs.
It’s a really fun way to keep bowling over the winter, in a friendly, low competitive environment.
Club Competitions
Members are encouraged to enter the internal club competitions. These are overseen by a Competition Committee.
Competitions can be entered on and after the renewals day on February, until the end of March. The competitions are drawn on a Friday evening in April.
Competitions are available in Ladies, Mens and Mixed categories.
Our Clubhouse & Bar
The ‘Romans Bar’ is open to members and their guests during matches and social events. Social membership is also available for those who do not want to play, but still enjoy the facilities and environment that we offer.
Friday evening is Club night, and the bar is open from 6.30pm
Club hire
The club does hire out the hall subject to terms and conditions, which helps club revenue.
All enquiries must be addressed to the Club Secretary, and must meet with committee approval, who will confirm availability within the club diary.
Our Event and Catering Manager is happy to meet with potential hirers and work with them to ensure a successful event. These have included birthday parties, wedding receptions and baby showers, and everything in between.
